Hosts: Matt Hochberg, Len Testa, Mike Newell, Mike Scopa, Mary Waring & Sue Pisaturo

  • Magical Beginnings
  • Free dining is returing this fall
  • Mary says if you book a special vacation package between August 13 - September 30 (room + ticket), you will get free dining plan (one snack, one counter service and one full service meal per day)
  • Mike Scopa says it is a great deal but it is important that you plan ahead and make dining reservations well in advance
  • Sue says many restraurants are booking up now
  • Sue encourages our listeners to purchase park hopping feature if you're going to get the free dining plan
  • Sue mentions you must book the free dining plan by June 3
  • Matt shares a tip he learned from Mary for Annual Pass holders where you need to buy at least a one day park pass with the Magic Your Way package to be eligble for the free dining plan and you can take that one day pass and apply it towards the renewal of your annual pass next year
  • Len says the reader feedback on the dining plan has been almost universally positive
  • Len says the average Unofficial Guide family of four spends $122 per day in the parks for two meals
  • Mary mentions that Disney has expanded the dining plan to include more items on it's dining plan under the snack category to include anything edible under $4
  • Sue says many of the menus now have a "DP" next to the item to indicate it's covered under the dining plan
  • Mary says Disney is repackaging exisitng programs for the fall in a package called Magical Beginnings aimed at the under 5 crowd
  • Mary says they've added some extra magic hours to Fantasyland only at the Magic Kingdom and some concerts at the Disney-MGM Studios
  • Mary says the extra magic hours in Fantasyland is available to any guest, not just someone under the Magical Beginnings package
  • Len says the extra fantasyland extra magic hours will affect the parks as Fantasyland will be extra crowded
  • Mary says Magical Beginnings is a great marketing tool as it's attracting those who are not affected by school
  • Len says he thinks perhaps this is an attempt to reconnect young children to Disney
  • Sue says next year the value and moderate resort seasons will change
  • May 24 - August 4 will be the new summer seaon in 2007 and will cost about $10 more per night
  • Sue mentions the summer season will now end sooner and the value season will begin August 5, 2007
  • Sue says Disney is doing this because the parks thin out by mid-August due to the southern schools opening somewhat earlier than they used to
  • Len thinks for $175-85 for a moderate, Len would rather stay at a Downtown Disney resort and doesn't think it's worth it to stay at Disney's resorts for that price
  • Mary mentions the price this year for a standard view moderate resort was $155 so the price seemingly has gone up $20 per night
  • Mike Newell shares a special 100th episode lookback

Thanks guys for all 100 shows. The end bit by Mike N. was hilarious. I listened to it at work on my ipod and I was laughing outloud so much that I got a few dirty looks from my co-workers. I had to replay it a few times to get all the jokes. And Matt for the record I thought the Hydrolators were real also.
Looking forward to the 200th show.

You take me away every podcast!

Just like the hydrolaters you guys make us think that we have gone somewhere when we really haven't.

For us hardcore mousers, if we can't actually be at Walt Disney World, we can dream about being there. Thanks guys for letting us dream three times a week! Keep up the great work!
