Star Tours
Authored by: wdwtodayfanclub on Wednesday, November 29 2006 @ 09:53 AM CST
Star Tours update according to Wikipedia:

In April 2005, at the Star Wars Celebration III, Star Wars creator George Lucas confirmed that a Star Tours II is in production. This new ride will apparently be prequel-oriented.

In a concept release, the sequel is described as being based on the Pod Racer sequence in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. The new ride system will consist of a glasses-free 3-D High Definition screen and an improved motion simulator.

My sidebar....Star Tours lost corporate sponsorship this year (Energizer) and they may be waiting for a new sponsor to fund the project.

I must say that I think Alfredo's is the best Italian food I've ever had. The lasagna and fettuccine alfredo are both absolutely wonderful and very different from what you get in the Italian chain restaurants.

Mark my words:

The first family to win the 'round the world trip, cinderella castle, DVC, all
expense paid trip, etc., WILL BE A FAMILY, PICKED FROM EITHER A
FANTASYLAND TYPE RIDE, SPACESHIP EARTH, DINO LAND RIDE, OR ANY
OTHER RIDE AIMED AT KIDS.

Disney will not be biased in whom they pick, rather, they will pick rides like
dumbo, snow white... to win the big rides. It is more likely that the disney
family of four will be there than at Space mountain, expedition everest, etc.

If this is not the case, I will buy at mousefest a wonka bar and dole whip for
the panelists.

Nothing is more wonderful than the imagination. For, in a moment, you can experience a beautiful fantasy. Or, an exciting adventure!
Why they ask you questions when you call
Authored by: Chris P on Thursday, November 30 2006 @ 11:00 AM CST
It may be partly marketing for Disney to find out how many times you have visited. But here is another thought as to why they ask you.

Skills - in call center speak you can have reps with different Skill levels. When Scoppa calls and they realize he has temporary residency, they can hand him off to a less "skilled" rep. When the person calls who hasn't visited Disney before they need to speak to a more "skilled" rep to answer their questions.

As far as them knowing that Len has called thousands of times based on his home phone number - yes they should absolutely be able to bypass that step - and even have the rep see the last few visits - and upsale based on that.

But based on the very obvious lack of funds Disney has spent on technology for their web site and booking, it doesn't surprise me.

I think Momma Melrose's is great - I didn't care for Alfredo's
AP vs. Renewal
Authored by: disneyfanatic on Friday, December 01 2006 @ 08:47 AM CST
I'm not sure what the AP discount is for renewing (it used to $50) but we think it's a better deal for us to buy a new pass. And with the $100 discount for DVC members, it's even easier.

We go about (on average) 2 times a year, September and December. Here's what we do...

When we are buying the passes, we always schedule our buying-time trip for the latter part of the window we look at for our trip. for example, if we look to go in September right after Labor Day, then we would go the latter part of the two week period (like the 17th of this year) When we buy our passes, they expire the 17th of next year. Then we would go in December on the same passes. Then again in September of the following year but before they expire (like the 8th to the 17th). Then if we went back in Dec. we'd have to buy passes again but we'd get a few months where we wouldn't waste with a renewal. Now when we buy them in December, we have 10 months where we wouldn't have to buy passes until September 2 years later.

This seems to be more economical than renewing...

I hope this isn't confusing... :-)
