Inferno Barge "Burn Off"
Authored by: TheRedHelicopter on Monday, April 27 2009 @ 10:36 AM CDT
Unfortunately, a few months ago they started incorporating the "burn off" into the show. They now "dump" all the propane during the last flame display in the middle of IllumiNations. We used to watch the burn off every trip (we go at least twice a month.) We have not seen it for the last several months.

We were told this by several different cast members, on several different occasions. Doing this saves propane, as well as time... they don't have to wait as long to start clearing the barges from the lake.

Sorry for the bad news. If anyone knows otherwise, or has seen the burn off lately, I would love to hear it. We miss it a lot.

I second all of the hidden attractions that you guys mentioned! I'm one those people who goes and pulls the rope, too, and have got my 10 year old doing it on occasion! It's kind of neat to see the reactions nearby of guests that don't know about the "person" in the well!
One hidden attraction that I've heard about but have yet had the opportunity to see is the tribute to the 20,000 Leagues attraction. I love the neat little things that the Kim Possible interactive game has one see, esp. in Japan! One of our family's favorite things is to go and see the Japanese candy lady and her ever so cool creations! Get to her shows at least 15 to 20 minutes ahead of time and stand near the rope. Most often, you might get picked & your family might get to have a creation made for you!
Look for the Viking with the mouse ears in the viking ship prior to boarding the boat in Maelstrom. These are a few of my family's faves!

My favroite hidden attraction isn't anything Disney is responsible for. My favroite is the people. When ever you get that many people in one place you're bound to see a myraid of weirdos. The challenge is taking pictures without people knowing your taking their picture. You need proof after all. Some of them are so odd no one back home would believe you.

We also encountered a talking trash can at Rafiki's Planet Watch in AK.

Sooooo . . . there's a reason to take the train, I guess.

Also....we just missed him, but Jiminy Cricket hangs out there, too.
We only caught a glimpse. Wish I would have had a pic with him,
we didn't see him anywhere else.

In the Magic Kingdom on Main Street halfway down on the right, there is a little "side street" that has some benches and is a nice, quiet area to take a break. From the second floor you can "hear" a tap dance session taking place. Again one of those little nuances that make WDW great.

As my family and I are headed down to the World in June, we really enjoyed this episode. These are the "little things" we want to be sure we're watching out for. My kids were especially intrigued to hear about the Push and DeVine. They're 12, 13 and 14 years old, but think it'll be really cool to be on the lookout for things like this. GREAT episode!

Great episode. You mentioned a lot of my favorites, but I wanted to add a few more:

-The Flag Retreat in town Square
-"Mo Rockin" the band (and belly dancer) at the Morocco pavilion.
-The Cinderella fountain and her horse at the carousel (with the golden ribbon in his tail)

And regarding the Cool Spot, if they sold the Israel version in this country, I would drink it all the time.

If you go into the photo shop to the left of Tony's Town Square in MK and walk past the counter area, you will find a Disneyana area with "cutouts" from different Disny movies where you can take pictures of your family in different scenes. There is also a nice mural on the wall with a timeline of all the Disney animated films. If you really time it right, you will see the characters lining up to head out on Main Street.

One other thing about Everest.

At the "outfitters" on the trail to the Expedition Everest ride, stop and listen.

Look up to the second floor. There are some backpacks set up on the wall.

There is a conversation going on inside. Two climbers are talking to what
is probably a Nepalese guide about the Yeti. The Nepalese guide speaks,
and one of the climbers translates to the other. I don't remember what
exactly is said, but things along the line of "yes, the Yeti is real, I have seen
him", and other comments about getting ready to go on the expedtion.

Awesome storytelling!

While I am uncertain as to whether that is an accurate audio representation of me, I do, in fact, insist that the Singing in the Rain umbrella work every time I go.

Loved this show! I learned some new things to try on my next trip. I was just there photographing the well in HS and read that sign. It never occurred to me to actually pull it.

One of the listener's tips was about the shrine lining up with the EE mountain. I think she was talking about something different from what you described. I did a blog post about this awhile back. In fact, it turns out I mentioned this show in that post. Here's the link: http://land.allears.net/blogs/photoblog/2007/09/focus_on_disney_world_yeti_shr_1.html
