The information on transportation was in the final race instructions and there was a flyer in my room that outlined the issues with transportation due to the races. The information was there, there's only so much you can do to educate people.

As far as the pacing goes, there are plenty of races that you can do that don't have the same requirements. Just my opinion, but it's important to prepare yourself properly and know your limits.

I completely agree with Stephanie about the pacing requirements. Marathons are supposed to be a challenge, otherwise we'd call them Happy Fun Walks. If a 16:00/mile pace isn't possible for 26.2 miles, do a different race and aim for another year for the marathon. As for starting the race any earlier - I already have to get up at 3AM two days in a row to do the Goofy. That's quite early enough.

It's great to hear that Mike has finally realized the value of the Runners Retreat. Yes it's expensive, but so is everthing else at disney. Of all the powdered eggs at all of the buffets, the powdered eggs in the tent after the race are the BEST. I've convined 3 people over the years to do the Runners Retreat and they've all said they wished they had them at more races.

Is it fair to say what Scopa did during the Marathon as "running"?
