My thoughts: Everest-completely agree with Newell. This is my favorite roller coaster of all time, and I have had fun on several more intense ones (Hulk and what is now Dragon's Challenge at IOA and Alpengeist at BG Williamsburgh), because of the unique backwards sequence. Ironically, this one ride has made AK my favorite park at WDW. Lights, Moters, Action-ok show but way too many breaks between stunts. Soarin'-I ride it every time I am at Epcot, but this is mainly because I would rather be thrilled than educated at a theme park. Because Mission Space makes me sick, this and Test Track are the only two rides there that really appeal to me, and both are slighlty overrated IMO. Don't get me wrong, Soarin' is fun but not worth a 2 hour wait, especially once you have seen similar rides at Islands of Adventure such as Spiderman, and perhaps the new Harry Potter ride.

One of the things about Soarin' that I have always wondered . . . do other Horizons fans out there find their nostalgia button being pushed while experiencing Soarin'? There are a few things that find strangely reminiscent.

First, the screens themselves remind me of the section of Horizons where we saw the shuttle launch and the DNA double helix.

Second, and more obvious, the orange scent.

Third, the fact that we're viewing a series of differing terrains. The only one missing from Soarin' is outer space, but it's in California so outer space might be redundant. ;-)

Fourth, you're flying. At the end of Horizons, you fly through water, air, or space (your choice) to arrive at your destination.

Anyone else pick up these same vibes? Or am I just even more crazy than I had suspected?

Newell talked about how cool it would be if the current Soarin' was in 3D. What I'd like to see is a whole NEW Soarin', especially for WDW. Instead of just showing Soarin' Over California, how about Soarin' Over America? Wouldn't it be cool to fly over The Grand Canyon, or The Statue of Liberty, or Mount Rushmore? Or what about Soarin' Over the World?! Wouldn't that be something, to glide over all the world's great wonders?! And what the heck, in 3D! Nice touch.
