For whatever it's worth, the WDW calendar shows the Tiki Room closed through August 15. Count me in the group that hopes they restore it to the original version.

Hey I have used the on-line check in and it is pretty nice to walk up and just be handed a folder and walk away with only 10 to 15 minute wait. As for requesting a room I still call even after I have check in on-line I call and talk to a cast member and request a room. I usually receive around where I am requesting. When I am asking for that room I remember the Cast Memebers name and then send an email to the resort saying how helpful and nice that CM was in making the magic happen on our vacation. This really makes a difference with that next trip because there has been a time when calling in that the CM new who I was and thanked me. Being nice and graceous gets you further with CM's then just being demanding. Shout out for the staff at Old Key West:)

RE: Leaving parks late.

We almost always have a late dinner at Epcot. In February, we had an 8:45 reservation at Bistro de Paris. We were the last guest to leave the restaurant. Normally, we'd have taken the long way 'round via Japan/Germany/Mexico, but it was sooooo late, [with a bit of non-verbal encouragement from a cast member on a Segway] we took the direct route past the UK/Canada through Future World to the main entrance. We were staying off-site and driving. While our car was not the last car in the entire lot, it was the only car in the Discover lot. We were on row 15*. There were a gaggle(?) of cast members hanging out at the exit--heading up the ramp to the bridge They looked like they were waiting for a bus. We waved at them and they looked surprised. I love being one of the last one's out of the park in the evening. It's almost as cool as getting to the MK for an early breakfast.

( *I have a running list of parking lot/row on a Note on my iPhone going back to Star Wars Weekends 2009. ;-) I'm a geek's geek.)

We were some of the last ones out of the Magic Kingdom when we visited in February. We were in line for Astro Orbiter when the park closed at 11:00. That line is deceptive! We left the ride about 11:30 and dragged our tired selves toward Main Street. Casey's Corner was still open so we got a dawg and sat near the Plaza with a view of the castle all to ourselves. Most of the shops were closed by then. We were the only people on our bus back to Kidani. It's one of my favorite MK memories.

Online Check -in
Have used it since it started and have never been disappointed. Have requested and received a King bed room in great locations in the AKLodge, Polynesian, and Yacht/Beach Club.
You literally breeze by the desk. Great time saver when you arrive and just want to get to that first ride or experience!
