I encourage everyone that can make it to Disneyland during the month of the Golden Horseshoe Revue to do so. It was a great show (Wally Boag created the Pecos Bill role). I only wish they would do WDW's Diamond Horseshoe Revue also. Back in the 70s we always went first thing in the morning to get (free) tickets to one of the shows. Slue Foot Sue and her heart shaped mirror, ah, fond memories.

For the record, and to be clear with everyone, my "apology" was an inside joke intended for a friend.

Saw a commercial here last night, here in California! I guess the "tag line" is being tied-in this way "Spending time with 14-year old Jamie... available for a limited time only." There were clips of this 14-year old girl texting boys, and then it said something "she won't want to be seen with her dad in public much longer..." etc. There was no mention of the "magical touches" elements of the promotion - but they did use that tag line. AND, yes, I cried during the commercial. It was a heartstring-puller for sure!

I think they are approaching the little events, etc. in a similar way to the "year of a million dreams." Where, you go and your vacation will just have a few little "special" events that you can take pictures of if you happen to be there, etc. I don't think they think people are heading down for specific events, but if you happen to be there during pirate week you can go back to New Jersey or CT and say, "trip was great! And they had this surprise pirate week thing happening... so fun!"

The more I think about this, the more I like it (impossibly lame name notwithstanding). We're DVC members, so room discounts and things like free dining don't really help us, and in any event, the time that we go is based upon factors that have nothing to do with what's going on in the parks. The leap day promotion last year sounded cool, but it didn't move the needle in terms of when we were going to make our trip, for instance. With this, though, I'm guaranteed that there will be SOMETHING going on that's a little different and unique while I'm there. Might be something really cool, might be something meh, but there will be something special going on that we can take advantage of if we choose. Kinda makes the trip feel like a lottery ticket of sorts.
