I think you made a mistake about being stuck on a broken ride and the complimentary fastpass that is handed out. I was on Splash when it broke down and I was handed a fastpass that was good for any fastpass ride in MK for the next three days.

In re: question about Ocotber surprise crowds, this may help. Gartner Inc. sponsors a large conference every October. I've attended for 12 years. The week in October varies some from year to year. The conference is well attended - usually 8,000 paid attendess. Add to that families, vendors, and others and we've got a big number - over 10,000 people. And they go to the parks. This year the seminar was held October 14-18.

Just to give some scope. Gartner reserved blocks of rooms in 8 Disney hotels plus 6 more off-property and sold out. The conference uses all of the conference facilites in Dolphin, Yacht Club, Swan, and Boardwalk.

I was on Toy Story Midway Mania at DHS and had to be evacuated and walked out through the ride. We were given a fast pass that was good for any ride until a date 9 days away which was the 15th of the month. I think they pre-print boxes of these passes and the expiration date can be up to 2 weeks ahead.

Len: Accepting the premise that global warming is going to cause touring problems in the summer, how about Disney uses its business & political heft not to advocate for year-round school, and instead advocate for climate change, which would help the entire world, not just Disney. Pretty sure I've seen commercials with all their starlets and Joni saying this was a cause they supported.
